One of the migrants accused of assaulting two New York City Police Department officers in Times Square accepted a plea deal in exchange for a light sentence.

Darwin Andres Gomez-Izquiel, 19, pleaded guilty to second-degree assault on Monday for his role in the horrific January 27 attack.

The shame-faced migrant wore a beige jail uniform entered his plea in a faint voice then was led out of Manhattan Supreme Court in handcuffs bowing his head, reported The New York Post

Gomez-Izquiel’s sentencing is scheduled for September 5 where he faces up to one year in prison.

‘The sentence should absolutely be longer, but we’re glad that this individual is pleading guilty to a felony and will continue serving time for this brazen attack on our brothers,’ Police Benevolent Association President Patrick Hendry told The Post.

‘However, the important test will come once his sentence is up. He needs to be deported immediately upon release, without setting another foot on our city streets.’

Prosecutors said Gomez-Izquiel grabbed one officer and kicked the other in the brawl which was captured on film.

Lieutenant Ben Kurian and Officer Zunxu Tian are said to have suffered lacerations, bruising and substantial shoulder pain.

Gomez-Izquiel was initially released without bail, but was arrested again February in connection to a group that robbed a Macy’s in Queens and assaulted an employee.

He is now the second migrant to take a plea deal in the Times Square attack case. Kelvin Servita Arocha, 19, pleaded guilty to obstructing governmental administration on June 18.

Arocha is said to have kicked a police radio during the melee.

Ulises Bohorquez, Yohenry Brito, Edgarlis Vegas, Wilson Juarez and Yorman Reveron have also been charged in the attack.

The Manhattan District Attorney’s office has offered plea deals to Bohorquez and Brito for them to serve a year in prison in return to pleading guilty to second-degree assault.

Brito has previously been described as the ‘most culpable’ of the defendants and videos show the two officers and Brito falling to the ground and during the struggle, other suspects interfered by pulling, grabbing and kicking the cops.

As Brito attempts to wriggle away, the officers are holding on to his shirt that he eventually takes off.

Juarez have been presented a deal where they serve six months in prison for pleading guilty to obstructing a government admin.

Reveron was also offered a deal of two years in prison in exchange for pleading guilty to second degree assault.
