Lindsay Lohan may be hard at work on a Freaky Friday sequel, but her latest hair transformation calls to mind another iconic movie role.

On Monday, July 29, the 38-year-old actress revealed her newly blonde hair via Instagram. “Bts of a fun photo shoot this weekend ☺️😁,” she captioned the post, which also shouted out brothers and photographers Luca and Alessandro Morelli.

In the photos, Lohan’s usual rich copper locks were traded in for a lighter, strawberry-blonde shade with subtle golden highlights. She wore a natural makeup look (with her signature freckles on full display) and a casual white T-shirt, her waist-length waves cascading over her shoulders.

The star’s hairstyle is courtesy of celebrity hairstylist Dimitris Giannetos, who dubbed the look “churro waves” in his own Instagram post.

Lohan has been filming Freaky Friday 2, the sequel to her 2003 comedy, alongside original costars Jamie Lee Curtis and Chad Michael Murray.

In the original film, Lohan’s character Anna has darker hair with chunky blonde highlights as part of her grunge, punk-rock aesthetic. However, her latest look is more akin to her lighter blonde locks in the 2004 film Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen.

The star opened up about her nostalgic return to Walt Disney Studios to begin work on the Freaky Friday reboot in a June 29 interview with Nightline.

“For me, it was when I went on to the Disney lot,” Lohan said. “And being back on the Disney lot because that’s not just Freaky Friday. For me, that’s  The Parent Trap. That’s  Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. That’s Herbie.”

She continued, “It’s so many moments for me. So when I got there, I kind of felt like this essence of a little kid again.”

During a June 27 appearance on  Good Morning America, Lohan shared that the  upcoming sequel with Curtis, 65, is going to be ” much freakier than you would expect.”

“Jamie and I have stayed in touch over the years,” Lohan said. “So it’s kind of, you know, they always say, like, when you have a best friend or someone who you are really close with, if you cannot see them for years and years, but when you see them again, it’s like you never separated.”

“Grateful for every moment and cherishing every second of everyday and all of the beautiful things life has to offer. Feeling blessed. Thank you for all of the lovely birthday wishes ☺️,” she added.
