A security guard was stabbed to death after breaking up an unruly fight, which started when the murder suspect grabbed another man’s butt inside a bar.

Sidney Vieira was arrested for allegedly knifing Edgar da Silva, 32, following a fight that erupted at an establishment in Santana, Brazil, on Sunday.

Da Silva had stopped the brawl escalating after Vieira touched another man’s buttocks at the bar. He allegedly retaliated by stabbing the guard to death.

The murder suspect has said that he has no recollection of the ordeal.

‘He only knew how to say that he was ‘very drunk’, in his words, and that he didn’t remember anything,’ Amapá Civil Police chief Michael Duarte told reporters.

The would-be killer (seen wearing a shirt with flowers) was dancing with a woman when a Brazil bar customer (seen in the white t-shirt) suddenly grabbed his butt. The suspect argued with the man and fought him. He was kicked out of the bar and returned, but was not allowed in and responded by stabbing dead Edgar da Silva, a security guard

‘He doesn’t know if the man died and didn’t remember because he was very drunk,’ Duarte said. ‘Unfortunately, this is another one of those cases of deaths that happen in a banal way.’

Shocking video footage showed Vieira standing next to a dancing couple and drinking a beer.

As the couple slow danced, Vieira suddenly tapped the man in the buttock, surveillance video showed.

The shocked man, whose name was not released by the police, then confronted him – as the woman stepped in between them to prevent the incident from escalating.

The angered man continued to question Vieira, who could be seen lifting the hand with which he was holding the beer bottle to hit him.

The man responded by throwing a punch that grazed the woman’s face.

Sidney Vieira told police in the northern Brazil city of Santana that he doesn't remember grabbing a male bar customer's butt or stabbing dead a security guard who kicked him out of the establishment following Sunday night's brawl

The woman tried to hold back Vieira when the her dance partner punched her and hit Vieira before da Silva and a second guard intervened.

Vieira was removed from the bar by da Silva and tried to return – which was when da Silva stopped him at the entrance.

Vieira then pulled out a knife and stabbed da Silva in the chest and fled.

Da Silva was rushed to an area hospital, where he died from the stab wound.

The Amapá Civil Police launched a search mission and spotted Vieira Monday.

He fled to a river, where he was found after a 20-minute search underwater next to a plant.
