EXCLUSIVE

A serial rapist who has spent almost all his adult life in jail was caught viewing hardcore pornography after he asked an officer supervising his release from prison to help clear the browsing history on his phone.

Police subsequently found that Wayne Wilmot’s internet searches included looking for ‘very very very extreme hard Asian threesome porn’ and ’16 men for one Asian girl’.

Wilmot, now 51, was part of a gang who  abducted, raped and murdered bank teller Janine Balding in September 1988 and has spent all but 20 months since then behind bars.

He was paroled in October 1996 but committed further assaults against female victims and has continued his sexual offending against other inmates while in jail.

In April, a Supreme Court judge declared Wilmot a high-risk sex offender and made him the subject of an interim extender supervision order (ESO).

An ESO can be sought to provide ongoing monitoring of a high-risk sexual or violent criminal when his or her custodial sentence is over and they are let back outside.

One of the conditions of Wilmot’s order was that he not access, possess or view pornography, including X18 + restricted material.

Wilmot was released in June and acquired a mobile phone the next day.

For the first five days of his freedom, he used the phone to make searches ‘deemed appropriate’ such as for the contact details for Service NSW, according to documents tendered in court.

From then on, Wilmot began looking for pornography, starting with a simple request for ‘porn site’.

Two weeks after Wilmot’s release he asked a Department Supervising Officer (DSO) making during a routine visit to his residence to ‘have a look at my phone’.

‘The accused asked the DSO to delete his browsing history as he thought it would make his phone work better,’ a police fact sheet stated.

‘Whilst trying to assist the accused, the DSO noticed a number of tabs were open which showed he had visited Pornhub.’

Police reviewed the predator’s Google history and found his inquiries had quickly escalated from an initial search for ‘porn site’, which he made one week after he gained his liberty

Among the early search terms Wilmot entered were ‘hardcore porn videos’, ‘extreme hardcore porn videos’ and ‘Asian porn’.

He followed that with ‘very very extreme hard f*** porn videos’, ‘rough Asian threesome porn videos’ and ’14 year old Asian teenage very very hard porn’.

By the time he’d finished, Wilmot was looking for ‘6 naked men to one Asian girl’, ‘very very very extreme hard Asian threesome porn’ and ’16 men for one Asian girl’.

Wilmot was arrested and pleaded guilty to searching for and viewing X 18+ pornographic material in breach of his interim supervision order.

On Tuesday, Wilmot appeared via audio-visual link in Waverley Local Court where Magistrate Jacqueline Milledge jailed him for a fixed term of 18 months.

Wilmot’s lawyer Dev Bhutani had suggested a sentence in the vicinity of six months, arguing a ‘short sharp term of imprisonment’ would deter his client from again breaching the order.

‘Since the age of 15, he’s been in custody almost continuously,’ Mr Bhutani said.

Ms Milledge: ‘[From] what I’ve read about his history, that’s where he belongs.’

Wilmot has since lodged an appeal against the severity of the sentence, which will be heard in the District Court.

There was public outrage when it was revealed Wilmot would receive taxpayer-funded support through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) when he got out of jail in June.

That support included a total of 24 hours’ assistance each week to improve his ‘daily life’ as well as ‘social, economic and community participation’.

Wilmot was 15 when he and a group of four others aged 14, 15, 16 and 22 travelled to Sutherland train station in Sydney’s south and abducted Ms Balding at knifepoint.

The 20-year-old was forced into a car driven by Wilmot and raped in the back seat before being driven to an isolated area of Sydney’s west, where she was again sexually assaulted.

Wilmot and the other 15-year-old – an intellectually disabled girl – did not actively participate when Ms Balding was dragged to a dam and drowned.

Justice Peter Newman, who sentenced the group, accepted Wilmot ‘knew nothing of their decision to kill her afterwards’ and was not involved in the murder.

He determined Wilmot had not raped Ms Balding but was guilty due to his involvement in the joint criminal enterprise.

Wilmot was jailed for nine years and four months over a raft of offences, including sexual intercourse without consent, detain with intent to gain advantage, and robbery in company.

New London play is halted when audience feel faint during abortion scene and one theatregoer yells at cast that it was a ‘disgrace’ they had not been warned

A new play in London was halted after audience members felt faint during an abortion scene. The Years at the award-winning Almeida Theatre tracks women's rights from the 1940s to 2000 and halfway through the two-hour performance, one character has a self-conducted abortion at home. At the preview on Monday night, the graphic scene caused
