Mystery remains about a how grandmother vanished without a trace during a camping trip.
Anne Marie Jeffery, 73, vanished about 9am on August 25, 2020, while on a short walk to public toilets at the Lake Arragan campground, north of Brooms Head on the NSW far north coast.
Her husband and friends on the trip alerted emergency services, who spent the next three days searching for the grandmother but found no sign of her.
The search involved SES, RFS, National Parks and Wildlife and local volunteers.
Four years on, police have issued a renewed appeal for information to help piece together how she vanished and why.
Ms Jeffery’s disappearance was ‘sudden and devastating for her family, friends and the community.’
‘On all accounts Anne was a wonderful person who enjoyed camping with her loved ones; making her disappearance all the more devastating,’ Detective Inspector Ritchie Sim said.
He hopes the renewed public appeal will ‘trigger memories of those who were in the area’.
Police have re-appealed for information over grandmother Anne Marie Jeffery (pictured) who disappeared in Lake Arragan, NSW, in August 2020
‘The information you have may be missing puzzle piece that helps detectives find Anne,’ Detective Inspector Sim said.
‘Sadly, people go missing every year in NSW bushland, so I also want to remind the public to keep an eye on each other when they go camping or for a bushwalk.’
An inquest into her disappearance last year found that Ms Jeffrey had likely died on or in the days after August 25, the date she vanished.
‘Her place of death is somewhere in the vicinity of the Lake Arragan and Red Cliff Campgrounds near Brooms Head NSW,’ the coroner said in its 15-page report.
‘I am unable to determine if she died on land or in the water.’
