A property identified as the ‘cheapest house’ in the UK has been put up for sale but comes with a warning from an estate agent.
A two-bedroom detached house in Boldon Colliery, Tyne and Wear, has hit the market for just £15,000.
The house, which has been listed for sale at auction via online agency Zoopla, is a two-up two-down that could be a developer’s dream.
Extensive work would be required to turn the house into a forever home though – as furnished items are few and far between.
While the living room does come equipped with a fireplace, the floor would need to be refitted and the mountain of wood in one corner of the room cleared.

There is no sign of a working fridge-freezer in the kitchen either, with a cooker and oven also notably absent

A sloped bathroom ceiling where the shower head is currently positioned also means you could be in danger of banging your head and receiving a rude awakening at sunrise.
Maybe more concerningly, said bathroom is directly opposite the front door up a few stairs, risking leaving yourself exposed to the public if someone arrives home at the wrong time.
While one of the upstairs rooms has wallpaper that is somewhat fresh-looking, all the others look to be in desperate need of a lick of paint and some TLC – but for £15,000 it is a great chance for first-time buyers looking to turn a purchase into profit.
A small, unkempt garden also does little to raise the appeal of purchasing the house.
The house has come onto the market after its previous owner let it for £5,700 only for their tenants to have arrears troubles with payments, leading the landlord to put it on the market.
Zoopla’s Consumer Spokesman Daniel Copley told The Chronicle: ‘This two up, two down is a great option for first-time buyers looking to get on the property ladder.
‘It’s the perfect property for a buyer looking to make a property their own, just make sure you budget correctly as costs can quickly add up.’

Kate Lay, partner at Landwood Property Auctions, remarked: ‘While we acknowledge the layout of this property is somewhat unconventional, it holds great potential with straightforward refurbishment and thoughtful reconfiguration.’
‘We work very closely with LPA Receivers to help recover funds from properties such as this to repay debts and provide a positive solution for the community.’
Ms Lay added: ‘We have become experts in this field and our online auctions provide the quickest and most honest route to achieve a sale.’
‘We pride ourselves on full transparency in all listings, providing clear and accurate descriptions and images so buyers know exactly what they’re getting into. This also helps set a fair guide price.’
