Texas Governor Greg Abbott celebrated on social media after the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested another “most wanted” illegal immigrant in Texas.

The man was arrested in Round Rock, Texas, on July 31 after he was accused of raping a child.

Abbott said one more “criminal” is behind bars and “off our streets” after the man was apprehended by law enforcement officials.

Abbott said in a post on X, formerly Twitter: “Texas arrested another criminal on our 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants List. That is one more criminal the Biden-Harris Administration let into our country that is now behind bars and off our streets. Texas won’t stop until our state—and our nation—is safe.”

U.S. Marshals arrested 25-year-old Mexican national Fabian Toribio-Martinez, who was on Texas’ 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrant list, at an apartment complex.

Toribio-Martinez is being charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child and possession of a controlled substance. He was taken into custody on Wednesday by DPS Special Agents and the U.S. Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force and booked into the Williamson County Jail.

According to a press release, the Mexican national had two outstanding warrants out in Travis County from January 2024 and October 2023.

Toribio-Martinez was initially arrested in April 2018 and deported from the country. He was then arrested again in 2023 for possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest after unlawfully reentering.

The Austin Police Department issued a warrant for his arrest for aggravated sexual assault of a child in January.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) said a Crime Stoppers reward will not be paid for this arrest.

Toribio-Martinez remains in the Williamson County Jail. His arrest was part of a collaborative investigative effort, which mobilized a task force and utilized the combined manpower of federal and local agencies to apprehend perpetrators with outstanding warrants.

Seven out of the top ten “most wanted” illegal immigrants in Texas are suspected of sexually assaulting children.

Abbot launched a series of blistering attacks on Vice President Kamala Harris after she took over the baton from President Joe Biden in the run-up to the 2024 presidential election over her immigration policy.

The Republican Governor has repeatedly branded Harris as Biden’s “border czar,” despite her never officially holding this title.

Abbott launched a scathing attack on Harris‘ record on immigration policy after she recently visited Texas without stopping at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Abbott said Harris “couldn’t trouble herself” to visit the border during her campaign visit to Texas.

Harris has been under increasing pressure over what Republicans perceive as a lack of leadership surrounding border security and immigration policy.

Newsweek has contacted the White House for comment via email outside of standard working hours.

Under the Biden-Harris administration, U.S.-Mexico border arrests plummeted by nearly a third in July to a new low under the current administration.
