A Connecticut lunch lady accused of sexually abusing a teen boy pleaded guilty Thursday to a pair of felonies — allowing her to avoid facing a jury on the eve of her trial, state court administrators said Thursday.
Andie Rosafort, 33, entered the pleas at a hearing in Danbury state court to charges of second-degree sexual assault and impairing the moral of children, the Connecticut Superior Court clerk’s office said.
It’s not clear what the terms of her plea deal were, but she will now avoid having details of the crime aired in court at a trial that was set to begin this week.
Her attorney, William Westcott, did not respond to a request for comment.
Prosecutors had accused Rosafort, a former part-time employee of the New Fairfield public school district, of assaulting a 14-year-old boy in her SUV after grooming him for months on social media.
Cops started investigating the case after New Fairfield High School administrators reported a possible inappropriate relationship between an employee and a student, the Connecticut State Police said in March 2023.
The dad of one of the victim’s friends had told administrators that his child thought Rosafort might have sexually assaulted the victim, who had disappeared during a January 2023 party and seemed off when he returned.
That night, Rosafort picked the victim up from his friend’s house and drove a short distance before having “contact of a sexual nature” with him, police said.
The victim told the cops he felt uncomfortable afterward, and left Rosafort’s SUV before heading back to party.
Cops found other evidence, such as text messages and explicit content from Rosafort, on the teen’s phone.
Police also used photo locations to confirm the victim and Rosafort were in the same location during the alleged assault.
Rosafort turned herself in to authorities in February 2023 after learning there was a warrant out for her arrest.
Authorities hit her with three felony charges, and the courts released her on $100,000 bond.
Her next court date is Sept. 26 — but it’s not clear if she’ll be sentenced that day.
Students had often said Rosafort — a middle school lunch aide — was talking to freshman boys on social media.
Before the assault, she’d followed the victim on Instagram and Snapchat.
One day, he got a message from her that said, “You want to see something?”
Rosafort then sent the boy a nude photograph of herself.
The victim asked if she’d sent the photo by mistake — but then she sent another, according to the affidavit.
She also began asking him to send her nude pics as well.
This continued for months, with Rosafort sending the victim unsolicited nude photographs and videos.
Sometimes, she’s go to his sports games and send him videos of himself playing.
School officials investigated Rosafort’s so-called inappropriate communications with the students. But they eventually dropped it.
“The investigation did not produce any information that substantiated any inappropriate interactions between Ms. Rosafort and a minor,” School Superintendent Kenneth Craw wrote in a report.
