This year’s D23 started with Disney revealing some details about the forthcoming Avengers ride, set for the Disney California Adventure park at Disneyland Resort. The ride, which will come as part of Phase 2 of Avengers Campus, will have guests teaming up with the Avengers as they take on bad guys across the multiverse.

GameSpot was on hand as we got a first look at the vehicle for the ride which looks, on the surface, to operate similar to the Transformers and Spider-Man rides at Universal Studios’ domestic theme parks.

While we will likely get all of the details during the theme park-centric D23 panel on August 10, some details were revealed in the Imagineering pavilion on the D23 convention floor. Of note, it looks like the primary antagonist for the ride remains King Thanos, a version of the Mad Titan seen in the Thanos Wins storyline by Donny Cates and Geoff Shaw.

“This is a Thanos that won,” Kevin Feige said. “The Avengers are not too happy about that and you have to help them.”

Back at D23 in 2022, Disney shared that the ride vehicle “combines elements of Tony Stark’s time suits with Xandarian jump points and Wakandan technology to create a vehicle that can transport heroes to remote worlds in a matter of moments.” This new vehicle combines “portal technology and flight capabilities to maneuver through the skies” so heroes can go wherever they are needed.

The Avengers ride is just one of the many attractions fans are expecting to learn more about during Disney’s parks panel on Saturday.
