An Intimate Look at Christina and Josh Hall’s Relationship Timeline—From Its Giddy Beginning to the Bitter End

When news broke that Christina and Josh Hall were getting a divorce, many fans were shocked and wondered: What went wrong?

The couple had been married for nearly three years and shared much of their whirlwind romance on social media. And although many of those pictures have been pulled since news of their divorce broke, Josh also appeared on Christina’s hit HGTV shows “ Christina on the Coast” and “ Christina in the Country.”

To help shed some light on their highs and lows, we’ve put together a complete timeline of their relationship, from its hopeful beginnings to the dramatic day they parted ways.

March 2021: Josh and Christina begin dating

After separating from her second husband, Ant Anstead, in September 2020, Christina reportedly began dating Josh—a real estate agent, real estate investor, and retired police officer—around March 2021, according to People.

A source later told Us Weekly that Christina and Josh had met briefly for the first time at a real estate conference a few years earlier. In 2022, Christina posted this throwback photo of a March 2021 date with Josh on Instagram, according to the Daily Mail.

On a trip to Mexico for her 38th birthday, Christina went “Instagram official” with Josh by posting a picture of them on the beach together, according to The Sun.

Christina also posted photos of her and Josh together to her Instagram Stories, according to Extra.

“I met Josh when I wasn’t in a state of fear or fight-or-flight,” Christina posted on Instagram. “When we met this past spring, the synchronicities hit us so hard and fast they were impossible to ignore. I felt immediately crazy protective over him and wanted to keep him for myself and get to know each other before the tornado (media attention) hit. We’ve had a few solid months of just us getting to know each other and I’ve loved every second of it. ❤️✈️ .”

September 2021: Christina and Josh announce they’re engaged

On Sept. 20, Christina revealed to People that she and Josh got engaged. She also posted a few Instagram photos of her wearing her engagement ring and her kissing Josh on the beach.

Her caption was comprised of five emojis: a heart, an infinity sign, a lock, a key, and a ring.

October 2021: Christina and Josh get married in a secret ceremony

The couple got married on Oct. 6, 2021, People reports. They kept this ceremony secret until TMZ broke the news in April 2022 that the couple had gotten hitched in a private ceremony “sometime in the last six months.”

On the first episode of “ Christina in the Country,” Christina spoke about her secret wedding.

“Josh and I decided to do a courthouse ceremony—just the two of us,” she said. “Something private just for us. And then later, we’ll do a reception for the kids and family.”

In September 2022, Christina and Josh made good on that promise in a second wedding ceremony in Hawaii with friends and family in attendance, according to Us Weekly.

“Shared vows in front of family and our close friends,” Christina posted on Instagram. “Everything in life has led me to where I am right now, which is exactly where I want to be. My dream man on the dreamiest island. Maui holds a special place in my heart. What an amazing night filled with love.”

June 2022: Christina and Josh move into their dream home together

When Christina and Josh moved into their dream home, Christina wrote on Instagram, per Us Weekly: “Celebrating and settling in. Absolutely obsessed with our new home. Finally all boxes are checked. We made a wish list of every single thing we wanted in a home and then the next day this off market listing appeared before us. Manifesting at its finest ✨. This home has the best vibes ever, time to make it our own .”

Christina and Josh also shared a home tour with HGTV on YouTube, while Christina also gave an exclusive interview to Realtor.com® in which she revealed her favorite room in their new house.

“My favorite room in the house is our bedroom,” she said. “It feels really tranquil. It’s all glass, and there’s really cool bamboo that you look out at. It has vacation vibes. It sits up high, so you feel like you’re in one of those hotels where the room is on stilts. There’s a cool chair in the corner where I like to read.”

When asked what her top tip for decluttering a home with kids was, Christina started her answer with, “I have a husband who is very neat!”

Later, she added, “Definitely [Josh] is way more neat than all of us are.”

May 2024: Christina and Josh to star in a new show, ‘The Flip Off’

HGTV announced a new show, “ The Flip Off,” pitting Christina’s ex-husband Tarek El Moussa and his new wife, Heather, against Christina and Josh to see which married couple can make the most money renovating properties. The show is scheduled to premiere next year, which Christina will now have to do solo.

July 2024: Christina and Josh file for divorce

On Christina’s birthday, July 9, many fans noticed that Josh hadn’t posted any well wishes to his wife on social media. Divorce rumors started flying online.

On July 15, Josh and Christina both filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

Josh reportedly asked the court for all rights to any HGTV and/or Discovery Network shows or specials he and Christina developed, produced, or contracted with during their marriage. The couple did not have a prenup, according to TMZ.

Later that month, Christina claimed in court documents that Josh transferred $35,000 of her rental income into his personal account, according to Page Six.

“I am asking for Josh to account for the funds taken and return them to me as those funds are specifically used to pay any loans, obligations, property taxes, insurance, and maintenance for these rental properties,” she wrote in court documents. “Quite frankly I am shocked and concerned by the fact that he has diverted over $35,000 of my separate property money to his separate account.”

Christina also expressed outrage about Josh’s postdivorce behavior on social media.

“I have worked my ass off to build this life for myself and my children and anyone who would try and take what they do not deserve/ what they did NOT work for should be ashamed,” she said. “An insecure man with a large ego can sure try and derail you- but ‘still i rise’ …. For those that aren’t aware … divorces do not happen overnight .. & there is always a breaking point. This one is personal…….”

August 2024: Josh moves out

Josh was seen moving out of their Newport Beach, CA, home, and taking away the cars from his man cave, according to the Daily Mail.

While Josh made the move, Christina was on a girls’ trip in South Carolina. Afterward, she posted this message on her Instagram Stories: “South Carolina was good to me. The pure peace I felt there was something I haven’t felt in a long time. It reminded me I am capable of feeling this daily.”
