Best Buy is now taking preorders on McFarlane Toys’ upcoming Batman (1989) Cowl replica for $100. Preorders initially went live in July and promptly sold out at Amazon and Entertainment Earth. The 1:1-scale version of the mask worn by Michael Keaton in Tim Burton’s 1989 film looks awesome. Though multiple retailers originally had the collectible set at $160, listings have since been updated to reflect the significantly lower cost. The release date has also moved up to September 25. Batman could sit next to you on the couch while you read the upcoming novel Batman: Resurrection, a direct sequel to Burton’s beloved film.
McFarlane Toys Batman (1989) 1:1 Cowl Replica
$100
While it’s is not an exact replica of the cowl, this version does hit a nice sweet spot for overall authenticity and affordability. The general shape and style of the cowl are in line with the version seen on the big screen, although it is lacking the finer details such as the bat-like texture and sharper ear-tips. Still, you’d normally pay much more than $100 for a true screen-accurate cowl– the Pure Arts version is priced at $809–so this is a nice compromise.
Out of the box, the cowl comes with a display stand and stands 24.5-inches tall. Due to the hard plastic material it is non-wearable, but it’ll still look great as a centerpiece in a Batman collection. You can preorder the McFarlane Toys Batman (1989) 1:1 Cowl Replica at Best Buy and GameStop. Preorders are currently sold out at Amazon and Entertainment Earth.
For something a little different, you can also check out some fun Lego Batman sets, like this eye-catching display piece inspired by the Gotham city skyline. This massive 4,210-piece set is part of the Lego Art series and is designed to be displayed on your wall once you’ve finished constructing it. There’s also this Lego Store-exclusive Batcave diorama hailing from the 1992 movie Batman Returns, a chunky replica of Batman’s lair that is full of bat-details like a command chair, computer screens, and even a Batsuit vault.
Batman fans should also check out the four new DC Batman Lego sets, which released this month and are far more affordable than the pair of large-scale sets above.
