Randy Orton has been with the WWE for over 20 years now and is a celebrated performer within the company. He’s captured every major championship and headlined his share of marquee matches throughout his career and recently re-signed with WWE for another five years. He’s sprinkled in a few movies in his career, as wrestlers tend to do, and even auditioned for Deadpool 2.

During his time talking with current WWE Champion Cody Rhodes on the recent episode of What Do You Want To Talk About?, Orton surprised Rhodes with a few facts about his career, but also how he wanted to lean more into Hollywood acting like John Cena and land auditions. One of the auditions Orton took was for the role of Cable in the Deadpool sequel.

“So I do auditions here and there, and I remember I got an audition early on when I finally got some representation in that industry,” Orton explained. “I think Deadpool 2–“

Rhodes cut him off. “Cable?”

“Cable,” Orton nodded. “I read for Cable, and in my head, boy, I was going to be Cable. I was going to be Cable. I was like, ‘this is it’. Nope. No callback, no nothing. Josh Brolin gets it because of course Josh Brolin gets it. Kills it. I don’t know what the f*** I’m doing. And I kind of realized then ‘Oh okay I can send in these auditions, but I’m a pro wrestler’. I think I enjoy being a pro wrestler and everything it’s given me. I don’t think I’ll ever leave this place.”

Considering Orton’s career, he’s a first pick for a Hall of Fame slot whenever he decides to hang up his boots permanently. Throughout the almost hour-long conversation, the two discuss John Cena’s final match, Randy’s obsession with Elden Ring, and how he felt like he needed to mature as a man.

Randy’s next big matchup is against Gunther at Bash at Berlin for the World Heavyweight Championship.
