A 16-month-old girl was killed after her father allegedly abducted her and her two siblings, fled from police and crashed on a Maryland interstate on Wednesday, authorities said.

The girl was identified by Virginia State Police as Za’riyah Plummer. Her siblings were injured in the crash and taken to the hospital.

The incident began when Virginia Beach Police received a call about a stabbing on Jay Are Court, a news release states. Officers found a woman and juvenile suffering from multiple stab wounds. They were hospitalized in stable condition.

Police said the incident was domestic-related and identified the suspect as Dana Plummer, 36, of Virginia Beach. Authorities said he stabbed the two people before abducting his three children and fleeing the scene.

Warrants were issued for Plummer and an Amber Alert was sent out by the Virginia State Police for the missing children.

Just before 9 a.m. on Thursday, authorities were contacted by a citizen who recognized the vehicle from the Amber Alert. State Police attempted a traffic stop on Interstate 95 in Fairfax County, Virginia.

Plummer allegedly refused to stop and crashed into two other vehicles, causing his SUV to flip over, Maryland State Police said. The occupants in other vehicles were not injured.

Plummer was hospitalized after the crash. He was charged with aggravated malicious wounding, parental abduction, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and domestic assault, Virginia Beach police said. Charges in Maryland are pending.
