DENVER — If you like wholesome baseball content — and who doesn’t? — do the San Diego Padres ever have a video for you.

Might want to grab a box of tissues.

Each day of Players’ Weekend has marked a different opportunity for players to showcase their personalities and their stories. Sunday was for “appreciation” — a chance for those players to honor those who helped them along their path.

Prior to first pitch of their series finale in Colorado, the Padres posted a video on their social media accounts with messages from the loved ones of several players directly to those players. Those messages were relayed to the players at Coors Field, where they watched and reacted.

“That actually just made my day — that’s awesome,” said an unusually lost-for-words Jackson Merrill after a message from his brother’s kids.

“You can’t do that,” said a teary-eyed David Peralta after a message from his three kids. “That’s why I don’t like surprises. That was cute. I miss them so much.”

You’ll want to check out the whole thing — 6 1/2 minutes of Padres reactions to messages of support from their loved ones.
