Trekkies, this one’s for you.

From the outside, the only hint that there’s something different about this home in San Francisco is the slightly industrial look and stainless steel entryway.

But once inside, prepare to be beamed up.

“It’s only when you open that first entry door that you start to get a sense of, oh my goodness, something very interesting is going to be happening in just a moment,” says listing agent Peter Goss, with Corcoran Icon Properties.

He explains that the seller was inspired by “Star Trek” and the Starship Enterprise and went to great expense and effort to “capture the spirit with that particular program and series in the creation of his home and workspace.”

The sci-fi- inspired home is listed for $3,995,000.

The owner spent about $10 million on the home’s interiors.

It took more than 10 years and more than $10 million for the homeowner to bring his vision to life, Goss says. The place was built in 1907, but the deep-space design was added after the home was last purchased in 1993.

Inspired by ‘Star Trek’

If you’re looking for the bridge, the sick bay, or the mess hall, you might be disappointed.

“Everything in the home was inspired by the ‘Star Trek’ series and the Starship Enterprise, but not every detail of the home necessarily would be something that you would connect directly to either the series or the fictional spaceship,” Goss says.

The four-level home has five bedrooms and four bathrooms in 5,389 square feet. An elevator is there to “beam” people up from floor to floor.

The ground floor has space for a gym or dance studio, complete with a DJ booth and theatrical lighting. And the rooftop is outfitted with a deck with a spa.

There are many unique features here, but Goss says one in particular stands out.

“My favorite part of the house is the tremendous skylight that brings so much natural light into the center of the home but also lifts your eyes and your spirits up to the sky and, of course, to the stars,” he says.

Goss understands the unique reality of selling this type of home.

“The challenge is finding someone whose vision for their new home is reflected in the excitement and the imagination that lies behind this very special and very beautiful property,” he says. “It may be that someone wants to have what I sometimes refer to as the red Rolls-Royce experience, meaning that you have something that nobody else has that is very special—something that you want to enjoy every day yourself and also share with others that is truly unique.”

The owner died recently and his estate is selling the home.

“He was just a wonderful person who was a delight to work for,” Goss reveals. “I’m honored to have the opportunity to represent his vision for the home and to find the new owner who wants to create their own vision of the future in this same wonderful place.”
