A light blue floral dress found near a Gold Coast bridge is the only clue police have as they search for a young woman who went missing in a creek.
The woman jumped into Biggera Creek about 4.30pm on Tuesday near the footbridge off Hollywell Rd in the suburb of Biggera Waters.
The woman – described as white, in her late teens to early 20s and with a slim build – did not resurface, sparking a frantic search effort. The dress was found shortly after near the footbridge.
As the search for the woman continues for a third day, Gold Coast water police officer in charge Peter Venz said divers have combed the river but found no sign of her.
‘They’ve been running sonar equipment in the police boats, up and down the canals just looking for any anomalies,’ Mr Venz told The Gold Coast Bulletin.
‘We have had one report from a building site. A worker thought he saw what may have been a body in the water yesterday at about 4.30pm.
‘We’ve had another report of a female spotted on CCTV semi-naked around the Morala Ave area at about 5am.’
Both reports are yet to be full investigated and officers are also scouring hospital admissions as they try to locate the woman.

Mr Venz asked the public to speak up if they have any information about the incident.
Police are particularly interested if someone matching the woman’s description has not been home since Tuesday evening.
CCTV and dashcam footage of the area is also of interest.
Matthew Botham who lives in the suburb said he witnessed a police boat slowly driving up and down the river for about four hours on Tuesday night.
He said while the water is not deep there can be a strong tidal current.
