Two people have been rushed to hospital after a serious collision between a car and a bus carrying 20 high school students.

The crash occurred at near a railway crossing at the intersection of Bank Street and Princes Highway in Traralgon in Victoria’s Gippsland region about 3.50pm on Thursday.

Multiple emergency services resources were deployed to the scene. 

‘Ambulance Victoria has dispatched significant resources to the scene, including Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Mobile Intensive Care Ambulance (MICA) paramedics,’ a statement read.

Two people have been transported to Latrobe Regional Health, including the male driver of the car, who suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The Latrobe Valley Bus Lines driver and the students on board escaped uninjured.

The bus company told Seven News that not much damage was caused to the vehicle, which was fitted  with dashcam.

Police have launched an investigation into the exact circumstances of the crash, which are yet to be determined.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dash cam footage is urged to call police or Crime Stoppers.
