Australians have been warned to prepare for rain, hail, and snow, as a series of cold fronts move across southeastern regions.
The slightly warmer temperatures and northerly winds will be replaced by a cold front reaching the eastern states later on Friday, bringing showers and significantly colder temperatures.
Bureau of Meteorology Senior meteorologist Miriam Bradbury said: ‘The coldest air will be moving up late Saturday, going into Sunday and we’re going to see a significant temperature drop across the south eastern states between Friday or Saturday and Sunday.’
The colder air will hit Sydney on Sunday, resulting in a significant drop in temperature.
‘In addition to the lower temperatures, the wind chill factor and the ongoing showers will make the feels like temperature feel even lower than the actual temperature, Ms Bradbury said.
Ms Bradbury stated that the colder air and lower temperatures will cause the snow level to drop over the next few days.
Snow may fall as low as 400 meters in Tasmania and 600 to 700 meters on the mainland, but it won’t be as heavy as last week’s snowfall.
The showers will start to ease off later on Saturday and into Sunday.
