Joy Reid has suggested that Donald Trump‘s grandchildren do not have a loving relationship with the former president.
The controversial MSNBC host was comparing Trump’s private life with that of president Joe Biden when she claimed that the Republican’s family does not seem as close.
‘Donald Trump has grandkids too, but the physical interactions that they had at the convention felt so cold and sort of clinical,’ Reid said on Wednesday, adding ‘it didn’t feel real.’
‘It didn’t feel real. You really don’t see Melania.’
Reid’s comment came as she discussed Biden’s marriage with first lady Jill and said ‘You don’t really see Melania.’
‘The closeness of [the Biden] family, it is another contrast with the other family that’s on the table,’ Reid added.
Trump’s grandkids were front and center at the Republican convention in Milwaukee last week, with his eldest granddaughter Kai even giving a speech about her relationship with the former president.
His four-year-old granddaughter Caroline also warmed people’s hearts when she was seen on Trump’s lap while her older brother Eric Luke joined in on cheering on their dad Eric Trump.
Biden, on his part, is notoriously close to his six grandchildren, though does not appear to have a relationship with Hunter Biden‘s five-year-old daughter with Lunden Roberts.

Reid’s claims about the Trump family came just days after she said that black Americans could be shunned by their communities if they do not fall in line and vote for Kamala Harris.
The firebrand host warned black voters they were going to look ‘real weird and real lonely’ if they do not back the ‘woman of color extraordinaire’ in November’s presidential election.
At the same time, she renewed hostilities with black model Amber Rose, who infuriated the liberal talking head by speaking in support of Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention last week.
‘The door needs to close behind Amber, and she look crazy over there. But shut the door behind her,’ the liberal anchor told her near two million followers on Twitter.

But Reid’s finger-wagging demands quickly sparked accusations of race-baiting and a furious backlash against being told to vote along racial lines.
Reid also sparked fury after she listed a number of things she finds ‘weird’ about the assassination attempt against Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania , and appeared to imply that it was a staged event.
‘We still don’t know for sure whether Donald Trump was hit by a bullet,’ she began. ‘We know almost nothing.’
And after President Biden tested positive for Covid days after the assassination attempt, Reid said on a broadcast that Biden’s brush with the virus was as heroic as Trump’s reaction to narrowly avoiding a bullet.
Conservative commentator Charlie Kirk led the criticisms of Reid’s remarks, as he called on MSNBC to ‘take Reid off the air’ for her ‘outrageous, insane, defamatory’ theories.
