On the Tuesday, July 23, episode of the LadyGang podcast hosted by Keltie Knight, Becca Tobin and Jac Vanek, the Summer House star, 31, discussed her upcoming book How to Giggle, co-written by Hannah Berner, and delved into the controversy surrounding the sheer black dress she wore to a friend’s wedding in Saint-Tropez in early July.

DeSorbo showed off the dress in question in a July 2 Instagram post, where she received backlash in the comments with people writing things like “this just wasn’t wedding appropriate” and “I’d consider it an insult if someone wore what Paige did.” The black dress was a sheer design with a corset top, thigh-high slit and floral detailing that let her black undergarments peek through.

According to the reality star, it’s not a dress she would wear to a stateside wedding — but it was the perfect choice for her chic friends’ French nuptials.

“It was not a typical wedding,” she explained. “And the couple that got married — my girlfriend Alexa and her now-husband Wilton — [are] easily one of the most stylish couples I have ever been around … They look like a model couple.”

She also noted that she vetted the dress with other guests and the bride before the big day. In fact, she wasn’t the only guest wearing a sheer outfit.

DeSorbo added, “I was maybe one of 15 girls that was in sheer dresses — also because that’s like trendy.”

Ultimately, she said the debate didn’t take into account the setting of the wedding or the tastes of the people tying the knot.

“I loved that dress,” she continued. “I stick by it, and again it just proved to me that not a lot of people have been to a wedding in the South of France and for that I apologize to them.”

The Bravo star also joked that the reaction to her dress may have been “karma” for her judging other guests for what they chose to wear for some of the wedding weekend’s events, including two guests who arrived wearing white.

“One girl showed up to the wedding in pale, pale, pale, pale yellow. It was straight up ivory. And I looked at her up and down, and I was like, ‘You should be ashamed of yourself.’ Never did I think people were going to be doing the exact same thing to me,” she said. “So I feel like that was a little bit of karma.”

How to Giggle is expected to be released on April 15, 2025.
