The No. 1 pick in the 2024 Draft will begin his journey through the Minors at High-A.

Travis Bazzana is set to make his Minor League debut Friday night with the Lake County Captains less than two weeks after the Guardians made him the first player out of Australia and first second baseman to go first overall.

Bazzana’s debut will come against the Great Lakes Loons, who are led by MLB’s No. 63 prospect Josue De Paula, and can be streamed for free on MLB.TV and MLB.com, as well at the top of this article. The lefty-swinging infielder will also face one of the toughest southpaws in the Minors in Jackson Ferris ( LAD No. 6, LHP No. 8).

The 21-year-old is coming off a record-setting career with Oregon State, where set Beavers career marks in hits and home runs. During the 2024 campaign, he set single-season OSU records for runs scored (84), homers (28) and slugging percentage (.911) while ranking second in Division I in on-base percentage (.568), slugging and walks (76). He reached base in all 60 games he played and was named a 2024 Golden Spikes Award finalist and the Pac-12 Player of the Year.
