Last night’s Olympic Games opening ceremony controversy has escalated further as Christians claim heavy metal band Gojira are ‘perpetuating satanism’, as Andrew Tate accuses the West of worshipping the devil.

The French heavy metal band put on an unexpected performance of ‘Ah! Ça Ira,’ a popular song during the French Revolution, alongside opera singer Marina Viotti as well as a plethora of beheaded figures representing the slain Queen Marie Antoinette.

But the ferocious and fiery aesthetics has angered Christians online, who are arguing that letting the band perform at the opening ceremony is encouraging satanism.

Several users have taken to X, formerly Twitter, to condemn the performance.

One person user posted:

‘Dear Normies, You’re probably sat at home, watching the French Olympics thinking what the actual **** is this. Well it’s just another a conspiracy playing out in front of your very eyes. The one where we tell you – the World is run by satanic globalists who control everything. These people do very strange sick things & openly worship Satan or a brand of. They love showing this fact off. Do you see it yet? They’re not even hiding it.’

Users of the social platform were quick to express their similar thoughts, with one saying: ‘I’m sorry, this was played at the Olympics? What the hell is this?’.

Another said : ‘I keep telling everybody it’s not even hidden, AND THEY STILL WONT OPEN THEIR EYES’, suggesting that organizers of the event are promoting satanic rituals.

‘No, I glimpsed this satanic crap and now refuse to watch anything to do with the Olympics…’, said another.

Even the controversial social media influencer Andrew Tate raged that the opening ceremony was satanic and accused the West of ‘worshipping the devil’.

‘Satanists control the west and they show you that they worship the devil. It’s not a conspiracy theory. They literally show you. Are you blind?’, he said.

Others, however, were quick to defend the heavy metal band’s performance, refuting the satanic claims.

‘People accusing #Gojiraof satanists are uncultured scums. You don’t like it ? Good for you, keep it to yourself and don’t try to find conspiracy everywhere with your god or something else. They’re a Metal band, they’re humans, they don’t worship the evil. Think about it’, one user posted on Twitter.

‘Gojira being accused of being satanic when their lead guitarist is literally Christian is really funny to me’,

This comes after last night’s opening ceremony in Paris, dubbed by the British press as an ‘insane cabaret of cliches’ sparked backlash from Christians for an apparent parody of the Last Supper.

Complete with models, dancers, fashion icons and drag queens from the host nation, the performance took place on a bridge over the capital’s river around a table, which also doubled as a catwalk.

At the centre was a woman in front of DJ equipment with a golden halo-style crown, surrounded by several drag queens and dozens of dancers and performers.

A fashion show which showcased clothing designed by some of France’s most promising young designers took centre stage, as those seated on either side performed slick choreography.

Among those present was Drag Race icon Nicky Doll, who has appeared on the French franchise, RuPaul’s Drag Race UK vs The World and now hosts France’s own version.

Although also hampered by hard-to-hear music, many young people and fans of the popular TV show took to social media to praise the tableau, which aimed to echo the atmosphere of a nightclub and featured dancing and lip-syncing on the soaking-wet stage.

But others were less impressed, accusing organisers of creating a ‘woke’ parody of the Last Supper – a painting by Leonardo da Vinci depicting Jesus’ last meal with his disciples.

Tesla and SpaceX owner Elon Musk, who has come under criticism for his conservative beliefs, including towards his own daughter, wrote on X – formerly Twitter – claimed the performance was ‘extremely disrespectful to Christians’.

He added: ‘Christianity has become toothless.’

Later in the show, the most bizarre moment of the night saw a giant platter bedecked in fake fruits and other foods – with a ‘smurf’ resting among them.
