Man, 29, charged with murder and a woman, 24, with assisting an offender after crash involving a black e-bike that left two people dead

A man has been charged with murder, while a woman has received charges of assisting an offender, after two men were killed in a crash involving a black e-bike.   The victims, both of whom were in their 20s, were fatally injured after the incident on a A316 southbound slip road onto the M3 in Sunbury-on-Thames

A man has been charged with murder, while a woman has received charges of assisting an offender, after two men were killed in a crash involving a black e-bike.  

The victims, both of whom were in their 20s, were fatally injured after the incident on a A316 southbound slip road onto the M3 in Sunbury-on-Thames, in Surrey.

One of the men was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after midnight on Monday, July 22, while the other passed away later that day in hospital.

The victims have been confirmed as William Birchard, 21, from Colnbrook, and Darren George, 22, from Egham.

Alex Rose, 29, of Sunbury-upon-Thames has since been charged with two counts of murder and one count of perverting the course of justice.

He remains in police custody and is due to stand before Guildford Crown Court on July 30.

Tara Knaggs, 24, of Great Ayton in Yorkshire, has also been charged with assisting an offender following the death of the two men.

She has been remanded in custody and is set to appear at Guildford Crown Court on July 29.

Two men, both aged 24, one from Felton and the other from Walton-on-Thames, were also taken in to custody on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.

The pair have since been released on bail.
