Captain America: Brave New World will push the MCU forward next year, but the action flick starring Anthony Mackie might also bring back some familiar faces. In fact, Mackie may have accidentally just spilled the beans on a big surprise for the movie.

Warning: Possible spoilers for Captain America: Brave New World ahead!

Speaking with EW, Mackie seems to allude to the Hulk (portrayed by Mark Ruffalo) showing up in Captain America: Brave New World, as spotted by Austin Medeiros on X. When asked about how 2008’s The Incredible Hulk could be significant to Captain America 4, Mackie responds that, “It’s a different movie, like he green, I’m black.”

However, it’s here where things get interesting with Mackie. The actor continues by saying, “And when and if he shows up,” before Harrison Ford, who plays Thaddeus Ross and the Red Hulk in the movie, interrupts him. So Mackie replies: “Not Red Hulk, the other Hulk. There are multiple Hulks. So when he shows up…” Again, Ford cuts in before Mackie continues on later with: “When he shows up, his world, his universe, his story is completely separate from the way we utilize him in our story.”

It seems as if the “he” Mackie keeps mentioning is the Hulk, though the actor never explicitly says that. It also seems as if Ford is trying to stop Mackie from revealing this little nugget with his interruptions, though maybe he’s just being playful.

However, this wouldn’t be the first time the Hulk has been linked to Captain America: Brave New World. In fact, earlier this year, Ruffalo himself implied that the Hulk would appear in the movie, before a report came out afterward saying the MCU actor misspoke.

Over the weekend at San Diego Comic-Con, Giancarlo Esposito was confirmed as the Serpent Society leader Sidewinder for the film. Additionally, it was revealed Adamantium and The Eternals will be referenced.

The Red Hulk was revealed in the latest trailer for Captain America: Brave New World, which premieres in theaters February 14, 2025.
