Footage of a mother refusing to get out of the way of skaters and scooter riders has caused an online uproar.
The video was taken by avid scooter rider, ScooterBrad, at what is believed to be Gordon Spratt Reserve Skate Park in Pāpāmoa on New Zealand‘s North Island.
He started to confront the woman, seen in the middle of the park speaking to another woman, and asked her and her children to move out of the way.
The footage shows the scooter rider waiting at the top of a ramp before saying ‘if they’re not on wheels they shouldn’t be on the skatepark’.
He then asked for them to ‘move off to the side’ before the mother replied saying the kids were ‘just running around’.
She explained that they ‘couldn’t get access to our scooter and our skateboard’ before telling Brad to ‘leave us alone’.
Concerned for the kids being accidentally hit by a rider, Brad asked again for the mother to obey the rules of the park and to move to a grassy section nearby.
‘We’re just leaving’ the woman is heard saying.

She then continued to stand in the middle of the skate park, further frustrating the scooter rider.
The mother’s unenthusiastic attempt to leave the park then sparked Brad to scold her for not heading the warnings.
‘Come on, you’re the adult come on, it’s for your protection and their protection,’ Brad said in the TikTok video.
‘You can walk around the park, you can walk around the footpaths for where the feet go, this is a wheeled roller sports complex.
‘You just need to take some responsibility.’
The video attracted thousands of comments from viewers who were shocked by the mother’s actions at the skate park.
‘Why is it so hard for people to say ‘oops sorry about that’ and just move,’ one wrote.

A second said the danger was ‘equivalent to standing in the middle of a road’.
‘Is she trying to get her kids scared of people’ a third questioned.
Others commended Brad for calmly trying to deal with the ‘Karen’ while telling her about the dangers.
‘Dude’s out here gentle parenting Karen’s at the skatepark,’ one viewer wrote.
Another added: ‘You were literally so polite, but a Karen’s gotta Karen.’
