A man has been found dead on a busy holiday beach in Sussex this morning, as the police force launch a probe to find out his identity. 

Emergency services were called after the male body was discovered at Seaford in East Sussex this morning.

Police, ambulance crews and the coastguard hurried to the scene at 11.30am this morning, cordoning off the area from the public.

Sussex Police are working to identify the man and determine the circumstances surrounding his death.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said: ‘Emergency services were called to Seaford Beach at around 11.30am this morning after the body of a man found on the beach.

There was a heavy police presence at the scene this morning after emergency services were called at around 11.30am. The force are now working to determine the man's identity

‘Enquiries are ongoing, alongside partner agencies, to identify the man and establish the full circumstances of the situation.’ 

‘The beach is likely to remain closed for some time while this is ongoing.

‘We thank the public for their patience and understanding. No further information is available at this time’

There was a heavy police presence at the beach this morning, with at least seven cars to the scene.

The South East Coast Ambulance Service also confirmed they were in attendance at Seaford.

Pictures of the incident show members of coastguard and paramedics holding up sheets to shield the body as the police guard the scene.
