Bruce Highway, Bloomsbury: Multiple people fighting for life after horror crash

Two passengers have been rushed to hospital in critical conditions after a horror pile-up on a major highway. Two passengers have been rushed to hospital in critical conditions after a horror pile-up on a major highway.

Two trucks and a car collided on the Bruce Highway near Bloomsbury, between Mackay and Proserpine in north  Queensland at about 3pm on Thursday.

Queensland Police confirmed the highway has been closed in both directions as emergency services rush to the crash. 

Two rescue helicopters have been dispatched as paramedics treat four people injured in the crash.

CQ Rescue airlifted one of the critically injured patients to Townsville Hospital

Queensland Ambulance confirmed a man aged in his 20s was trapped in the wreckage for ‘some time’ and suffered life threatening injuries to his head and arm.

Another man aged in his 70s suffered life threatening head injuries,

Two others are in a stable condition.

Traffic has been diverted along Kinnears road for light vehicles only with long delays expected and commuters urged to take alternative routes.

Police and fire crews are also on the scene, with one or more of the vehicles rolling in the collision.
