PHOENIX — The D-backs rallied from an early deficit to beat the Pirates, 4-3, on Friday night in the opener of a three-game set at Chase Field.

The win was the third in a row for the D-backs, who are one game out of a Wild Card spot in the National League.

The Pirates jumped on D-backs starter Zac Gallen early, scoring a pair of runs in the first inning, both of which came on Joshua Palacios’ two-run single to right.

Pittsburgh added another run in the second on an RBI double by Andrew McCutchen.

The D-backs broke through against Pirates starter Luis L. Ortiz in the third when Corbin Carroll tripled and scored on Ketel Marte’s sac fly.

Arizona took the lead in the sixth, chasing Ortiz from the game and scoring three runs thanks in part to a home run by Joc Pederson.
