Del Castillo makes his first homer a walk-off

PHOENIX — Adrian Del Castillo launched a walk-off solo homer off Jeff Hoffman on Friday night to lift the D-backs to a 3-2 victory over the Phillies at Chase Field.

It was Del Castillo’s first career homer, after the D-backs’ No. 28 prospect was called up earlier this week following Gabriel Moreno’s placement on the injured list on Tuesday.

D-backs starter Ryne Nelson tossed 7 1/3 innings and allowed only three hits and two runs, tying a career-high nine strikeouts.

Del Castillo not only guided Nelson through that sharp start, but he went 3-for-4 with two RBIs — the last in dramatic fashion.
