“Some things never change for me.”

Diane Keaton is talking about her trademark sense of style, which at this point, has become a part of her identity. Characterized by a turtleneck, tailored suit, hat and pair of bold frames, the 78-year-old actress has solidified her sophisticated and timeless look. After decades as a style icon, Keaton has teamed up with Look Optic to launch her own collection for the very first time.

Over email, Keaton describes the collaboration as “simple and chic,” reflecting her own personal style. “I love how the frames are light and don’t hurt my nose,” she continues. “I could wear glasses day and night. I have even been known to sleep in them.”

The Something’s Gotta Give star also shares that she doesn’t like frames “that go out to far or that expose too much under my eyes.”

“I think Look [Optic] mastered that in these glasses,” she says. “I find them to be perfection.”

The collection, launching on Tuesday, August 6, features a variety of tinted and progressive readers in classic neutral shades. Prices range from $68 to $102.

Unsurprisingly, the star’s favorite glasses from the collection are the aptly named Keaton Readers, which come in five different colors including a forest green. “Classic and traditional but contemporary design,” she says of the design. “Now I am even embracing the different colors to pair with different outfits. I’m really feeling the green color… that used to be out of my comfort zone… not anymore!”

The Keaton, Look Optic founder Andrew Leary says in a press release, is what kickstarted the collaboration.

“When you think of iconic women that wear glasses there is no one more iconic than Diane Keaton. And when we reached out to see if she would be interested in a collaboration we discovered her favorite style had been discontinued. So, together we reimagined the silhouette, adding tints and new color waves and the KEATON was born!“ Leary explains.

The Oscar winner’s sense of style started with childhood trips to the thrift store. “[My mother] took me to Goodwill and let me express myself,” Keaton recalls. “She was my biggest supporter and manifester of my creativity. Later in life my inspiration came from countless hours of cutting and pasting my way through magazines like Vogue magazine.”

Today, Keaton still enjoys thrifting and has carried on the tradition with her own children. “I went with my son last weekend to go thrifting,” she says. “I picked up a styling pair of jeans. I think they were only $12.00!”

The actress’ iconic style also translates to her roles. She tells PEOPLE that she doesn’t usually keep clothes from set because most of her onscreen wardrobe comes from her personal collection. “Normally I let the costumer pick from my closet so I am focused on making sure I get back all of my personal items to be honest,” says Keaton.

Her most valuable clothing item? “My dad’s sweater,” Keaton says. “I will treasure that forever even though it is full of holes.”

The Look Optic x Diane Keaton collection is available on Tuesday, August 6 exclusively at LookOptic.com.
