BioWare has shared an update on the development for Dragon Age: The Veilguard, saying that the studio is making “great progress” for its fall launch window. Regarding the PC version, it revealed some details that might be unexpected for an EA-published game.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be verified on Steam Deck, meaning that it will work on the handheld and passes Valve’s internal tests on inputs, display, performance, and seamlessness. Additionally, there will be a native version of the game on Steam, and players won’t have to use the EA App (the successor to Origin) to play it on PC.

This is a stark contrast to EA’s previous games, which required players to have the EA app to play on PC. However, the game will still need players to agree to a third-party EULA, as noted by the Steam page. This year, there was particular blowback with other publishers requiring third-party accounts to play Steam games, most notably with Helldivers 2.

BioWare also said that it will be providing more details about the game’s launch later this summer. It’s due out sometime this fall for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. So far, there’s been quite a bit info out there about the game, including it having a no-death option, being mission-based rather than open-world, and apparently a lot of nudity.
