Coming off of the success of the Mos Eisley Cantina campaign, HasLabs is back at it with a brand-new campaign over on the G. I. JOE side with the Cobra Rattler. The project will officially be announced at Hasbro’s panel during Comic-Con, but GameSpot has your exclusive first look at the notorious jet and its infamous and mysterious pilot, codenamed Wild Weasel.

This crowdfunded project will run starting July 25 at the start of the panel through 11:59 PM ET/8:59 PT on September 9, with the initial goal of 9,000 backers. If successful, the project is expected to begin shipping next fall. The jet is compatible with Joe’s 6-inch Classified series and will run backers about $325 plus shipping. G.I. Joe has had luck fulfilling its HasLab campaigns so let’s break down what its offering this time around with the Rattler.

First up, Wild Weasel figure comes with a removable helmet, so for the first time we see his face in figure form. There’s an additional battle-damaged helmet, and a detachable air hose connects his helmet to his flight suit.

Nose to tail, the Cobra Rattler measures almost three feet long, coming in at 33.53″. Wheels down, it stands 9.88″ tall with a wingspan of 32.04″. You can actually pivot the wings for a VTOL (Vertical Take-off and Landing) pose, similar to the original 1984 release. In addition, the wings can fold upright when the release is depressed, reducing the wingspan by half. The upright folded wings increase the overall height to 13.96″.

The Rattler comes with 12 removable pylons attached under the wings offering dog-bone connections to customize your weapons loadout.

  • 2 Sistrum Cluster Bombs with visible bomblets
  • 2 70MM Precision-Guided Rocket Launchers
  • 2 AEA-56 Quick Thrust Short-Range Missiles
  • 2 EO-118 Electro Optical Renegade Missiles
  • 2 Thermonuclear Bombs
  • 2 Bomb Racks which hold 6 total PL-MI84 Unguided Bombs

What are guns without blast effects though? In addition to the cacophony of weapons the jet offers, the campaign will include several blast effect add-ons.

  • 2 Large Blast Effects with a 6.3MM peg and a side dog bone connection which can attach to the back of the engines or missile accessories or one of the dog bone ports
  • 2 Medium Blast Effects with a 6.3MM peg
  • 2 Small Blast Effects with a 2.5MM peg which can attach to the “Jawbreaker” Cannon and the Turret Guns
  • 2 Small Blue Laser Beams with a 2.5MM peg

Now, 9,000 backers is just to guarantee the jet and Wild Weasel, what about the incentives? So along with Wild Weasel, at 11,000 backers it unlocks the Cobra Airborne Squadron Patches. With 14,000, every order will get a Cobra Rattler Gunner figure. Finally, at the top, 18,000 orders unlock the pilot Baroness figure.

Fans that missed out on the H. I. S. S. Tank or the Dragonfly might want to nab this if they can.
