EXCLUSIVE

The family at the centre of a stomach-churning war with their neighbours have broken their silence to admit the row has blown out of control after it exploded into violence in a Coles supermarket.

Daily Mail Australia last week revealed how a Hindu family in Liverpool, south-west Sydney, had faeces smeared over their mailbox and a used sanitary pad left on top of a religious ornament during a year-long campaign of terror.

Shania Lata, 19, and her family have since fled the unit to a new home in Minto, 20km away – but in videos which have gone viral on TikTok, they claim the neighbours have followed them to continue the alleged harassment.

Now Nawal Tawfeeq and her two adult children, Farah and Adam Abdulhussein, have hit back at the claims, and shared new footage of Ms Tawfeeq allegedly being attacked with a shopping basket by their former neighbour in a local Coles.

They revealed the battle began from a minor dispute over parking at their unit block – but quickly escalated to the series of sickening acts which has now cost one their job, as they now admit: ‘We’re both at fault.’

Ms Lata posted a series of shocking clips on  TikTok and Instagram accusing her ex-neighbours of smearing human faeces in their mailbox, hurling hot water in her face and calling police over false allegations her father pointed a gun at them.

In another sickening act, Miss Lata claims the neighbours allegedly left a soiled sanitary napkin on a religious shrine outside their front door.

The Lata family, who are Hindu, claim that the alleged vile acts were driven by religious bigotry and shared racist, threatening messages they allegedly received.

However, Miss Abdulhussein, 23, insists the row isn’t about race or religion – but she does admit it has gone too far.

‘This began as a standard neighbourly dispute over the downstairs parking and it just escalated from there,’ she told Daily Mail Australia from her home in Liverpool in Sydney‘s west.

‘Neither family is innocent, we’re both in the wrong.’

Miss Abdulhussein says the backlash triggered by her former neighbours’ videos prompted her to hit back and share her family’s side of the events.

‘My brother had to leave his job becuase his workplace was shared on social media and people were contacting management with lies they’d seen on Tiktok.’

She also claims that the former neighbours also smeared faeces in their mailbox, threw water in their faces and harassed them at all hours at night.

‘It was tit for tat, but we were not responsible for the bloody pad (sanitary napkin) or the s*** in the mailbox,’ she said.

‘But we had to put up cameras to protect ourselves and the accusations they were making about our family to the police and other neighbours in the building.’

According to Miss Abdulhussein, the fight escalated last July when Miss Lata’s brother, Bharat Pratap assaulted her mum, Nawal, at Coles supermarket in Casula in Sydney’s southwest, prompting them to seek out an apprehended violence order.

Footage of the assualt shows Mr Pratap using a Coles shopping basket to bash Ms Tafook over the head causing her to collapse.

‘We’re being made look like the bad guys but they’re not innocent,’ she said.

‘We want them to leave our family alone, we still feel traumatised.’

On  another occasion Mr Pratap can apparently be seen aggressively kicking down his former neighbours door in the middle of the night.

It’s understood police were called to the apartment complex multiple times by both families involved in the ugly dispute, prompting the Latas to relocate to Minto.

However, Miss Lata claims the mud-slinging has continued despite moving over 20km away.

‘He still continues to drive past our house and beep the horn, we don’t know how they got our new address and the police wont do anything’ she told Daily Mail Australia.

‘Why are they going out of their way to continue fighting? We want it to stop.’
