Harry Styles is a man of many hairstyles.

And when he’s off-duty, he’s a carefree guy who loves some scruff.

The Grammy-winning singer, 30, was most recently spotted in London on Aug. 19 rocking a face full of scruff and a grown-out haircut, the result of a summer of relaxation.

Styles, who is currently on break from both singing and acting, shaved off all his hair last November, debuting a shocking buzz cut, and has since been growing his famous locks back in ever since. However, his hair has been looking a little bit different from what fans are used to.

Harry Styles steps out on August 18, 2024.

For one, he’s kept it a bit on the shorter side for the past several months, including the short ‘do he showed off in February. The closely cropped haircut was one of the shortest hairstyles fans had seen on him in years.

And when Styles’ hair is that short, it’s definitely not as curly. While it’s been quite some time since we’ve seen a true head of curls on the “As It Was” singer, a few loose curls have sprung through over the years. That hasn’t so much been the case this summer now that Styles is keeping his hair shorter.

The cut he’s gone for this summer is short on the sides, long on top and a bit long in the back. For his Aug. 19 outing, he wore it perfectly coifed in front with the long ends in the back loose and flipped out. He also had a good few days of scruff on his face, which he’s also been rocking while he’s been on his well-earned break.

Styles completed his day-off look with maroon shorts, a black tee, navy jacket and sneakers. He carried a black bag and wore black sunglasses for the perfect athleisure ‘fit.

After Styles first shaved off all his hair last year, fans were understandably shook by his transformation. After all, he’s become known for his locks. (When he lopped off his long hair in 2016, it was truly the cut heard round the world.) But too many people had too many harsh words to say about what was truly just a bold haircut.

It was Styles’ mom, Anne Twist, who took to the internet to shut down all the negativity surrounding the haircut.

“When you consider that H has a legacy of kindness and inclusion, has always made every effort to make everyone feel seen and appreciated for exactly who they are … there’s an irony in the negativity he’s been shown for having a haircut. Sorry but I don’t get it,” she wrote on Instagram days after Styles cut his hair. She also highlighted his signature phrase, “Treat people with kindness.”
