A Pennsylvania woman left her two-month-old baby in a car – where temperatures soared to a blistering 110-degrees-  before bystanders came to the baby’s rescue.

Janelle Loveless, 33, was found shopping at a nearby store on July 5 in Quakertown, Pennsylvania while her baby was alone inside the vehicle in sweltering heat.

A horrified bystander saw the child alone in the scorching vehicle and rushed to the baby’s aid, pulling him from the unlocked car and calling 911. The Good Samaritan carried the baby into an air-conditioned building and waited for police.

One of the officers rushed the baby to a hospital. The baby miraculously survived. Another officer found Loveless in one of the stores. She told police she had ‘just plain forgot’ her son was in the car.

She now faces felony charges for reckless endangerment of an infant, and is being investigated by Pennsylvania child services department, The New York Post reported.

Quakertown Police Chief Scott McElree said the baby was in the car for more than 30-minutes in the 90-degree weather, and commended the quick thinking actions from the Good Samaritans who saved the child.

Police said the car windows were slightly open when they arrived but temperatures inside soared to a stifling 110 degrees and described it as an ‘oven.’

Quakertown is located in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, approximately 40 miles north of Philadelphia. Its population was estimated to be about 9,359, in the 2020 census.

McElree explained that the terrifying ordeal is not unprecedented as parents in the small community underestimate just how high temperatures can rise in their car during the hot summer months.

He added: ‘If it wasn’t for that citizen who called 911 and extracted the infant from the car, that could have been deadly.’
