A pilot has been killed after a plane crashed onto a busy motorway on Tuesday near Rotterdam, Netherlands.
The flyer is reported to have been taking lessons with Breda Aviation Flight School which confirmed on Facebook that one of their pilots had been killed in a ‘tragic accident’.
They also said that he was the only person on board the Aquila plane.
The incident took place near Breda, around 37 miles from Rotterdam.
Footage taken by passersby shows plumes of smoke coming from a burned-out wreckage, as motorists were forced to pull over to the side of the road.

One car was reportedly damaged in the crash, but there were no other injuries.
Floyd Aanen wrote: ‘From the viaduct. Lots of smoke and sirens. Plane crashed on A58 near Breda Airport. Pilot died.’
Sam Gichetaa said: ‘Does anyone know what’s going on at Seppe/Breda Airport?’
The flight school wrote in a message on Facebook: ‘On July 31 2024, a tragic accident occurred with one of our Aquila’s.
‘The pilot of the plane was killed.

‘It is not yet known what the cause of the accident is.
‘This is currently being investigated by the Dutch Safety Board.
