Marvel just recently announced Avengers: Doomsday, which features Robert Downey Jr. returning to the MCU to play Doctor Doom. What other characters could appear in the film? Jeremy Renner, who plays Hawkeye in the MCU, said in interview that he will “probably” be in the movie.

It’s still early days, though, Renner pointed out, and scheduling may prove to be an issue.

“I think it’s going to be challenging to get everybody together. I think they’re gonna have to piece it together week-by-week because of people’s schedules. I’m excited about it,” he said. “I think we’ll probably be doing it. We’ll have to figure it out. It’s all brand-new. It all just happened.”

Doomsday will reportedly feature 60 or more MCU characters, and if that’s true, Hawkeye showing up wouldn’t be very surprising.

Also in the interview, Renner was asked if it was difficult to keep the secret that Downey Jr. was coming back to the MCU. He said it wasn’t difficult because he didn’t hear anything from his friend about it prior to the reveal at San Diego Comic-Con. “Not a peep,” he said.

Renner appeared in numerous MCU films, along with the Hawkeye TV series. In January 2023, Renner broke 30+ bones in a terrible snowplow accident, but he’s now back working again. Renner is also known for the films The Hurt Locker and The Town, for which he earned Academy Award nominations.

Doomsday is set for release in May 2025, with Avengers: Secret Wars coming a year later. Directors Anthony and Joe Russo are coming back to direct both films, reportedly earning an $80 million payday to come back. Downey Jr., meanwhile, will reportedly make even more money to return to the MCU.
