Here’s the situation: Aaron Judge is in a jam. He’s set to compete in a home run derby, but there’s a pesky problem: He can’t get out of Builder Cove to participate. Not a great development for the Yankees’ slugger and his legions of fans.

But there’s hope: This is just the kind of problem a certain cadre of canines is eager to tackle. And with the help of the dedicated doggies, Judge might just get to hit some dingers anyway. So goes the storyline of Judge’s upcoming guest appearance on “Rubble & Crew,” a spin-off of the popular children’s show “PAW Patrol,” which is set to air Aug. 26 on Nickelodeon.

In the episode, titled “The Crew Builds a Ballpark,” Judge and his real-life pet dachshunds Penny and Gus (with Judge’s wife, Samantha, voicing Penny) find themselves in a travel jam, so Rubble and his crew resolve to come up with a plan to help Judge, who’s Rubble’s favorite baseball player. Using a can-do attitude and creativity, they resolve to build their own stadium to host their own derby. Teamwork for the win.

“As a proud dog dad, it was a blast to join Rubble and his friends in this adventure,” Judge said in March. “Through my foundation work, I understand the importance of reaching kids and teaching them the importance of teamwork. It was so fun to combine two things I’m passionate about — dogs and baseball — to deliver this valuable message.”

Knowing the track record of Rubble and his crew, their displays of positivity and teamwork should lay the groundwork for some prodigious animated long balls.

“Rubble & Crew” airs on Nickelodeon at 11 a.m. ET/PT on Monday through Thursday, and at 5 p.m. ET/PT on Nick Jr.

California Governor Gavin Newsom on Thursday ordered the dismantling of homeless encampments on state land, one month after the US Supreme Court overturned protections for unhoused residents sleeping outdoors. A tide of AI-fueled political disinformation has prompted alarm over its potential to manipulate voters in the US presidential race.  Deepfake videos parodying Kamala Harris and Joe Biden as well as a doctored image of Donald Trump being arrested could be used to steer voters toward or away from candidates - or even avoid the polls
