Lego’s first set based on the Steven Spielberg classic Jaws is now available exclusively at the Lego Store. The building kit launched today, and it’s already listed as “backordered,” with orders placed now expected to ship in 60 days. The 1,497-piece Jaws Lego set costs $150. If you’re looking to get it as a holiday gift for a Jaws fan, we’d recommend ordering soon, as the wait could soon extend beyond two months, or the set could sell out altogether.
The 50th anniversary of Jaws is next year, so its Lego debut is pretty great timing. If you want to watch the the classic film while building this cool set, you can purchase a limited-edition 4K Blu-ray–it also comes with Blu-ray and digital formats–for $21 (was $35) at Amazon. This release comes with a lenticular slipcase and a 44-page collectible booklet featuring the film’s original storyboards and more insightful content on how the iconic film was made. You can also pick up the recently released three-movie 4K Blu-ray collection for $20 off, dropping the price from $80 to only $60. This set comes with the sequels Jaws 2, Jaws 3, and Jaws: The Revenge. In addition to 4K Blu-ray discs, you’ll get standard 1080p Blu-rays and digital editions for all three films.
The Jaws Lego set recreates the scene where Quint, Chief Brody, and Hooper face down the shark–AKA Bruce–from the deck of the Orca. The Orca looks like it sailed in straight from the film set and is full of authentic details, while the shark is massive and dwarfs the included minifigures. It has an unsettling number of teeth and enough space in its mouth to chow down on everything from a salty shark-hunter to an explosive oxygen tank.
You can display the shark on its own thanks to a buildable pedestal, or you can combine it with additional bricks and the Orca to create a very cool diorama piece. There’s even an additional plate to attach to the display piece, referencing an iconic quote from Jaws.
