A man has been charged after he allegedly threatened a woman with a knife and stabbed the family dog while two children were in the house.
Police were called to a caravan park on Cooma Road, Narrabri at about 8pm on Sunday night after reports of the alleged violence.
Officers attached to Oxley Police District were told a 47-year-old woman had been assaulted and threatened with a knife by a man known to her.
She was treated for minor injuries by NSW Ambulance paramedics.
Police found the family dog inside the home with two stab wounds.
The dog has received treatment and it’s believed the injuries are not life threatening.
Children aged 12 and 13 were home at the time but were not injured.
A 32-year-old man was arrested about 8.45pm on Sunday on the Kamilaroi x Newell Highway following inquiries.

He was taken to Narrabri Police Station where he was charged with use offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm and torture, beat and seriously injure animal.
The man has been refused bail and is set to appear before the Narrabri Local Court on Monday.
