Nicole Kidman Kept Things Classic at the Olympics with Blue Jeans and a Button-Up — Staples Meghan Markle Also Wears

Knock knock, who’s there? Just Nicole Kidman knocking another outfit out of the (skate) park. 

The Big Little Lies actress, 57, had a day watching the “Skater girls🏅” at the 2024 Olympics.  And while I’m also a huge fan of the games, I also refuse to skim past a good ’fit when I see one. Hence why her business casual top, which looked like a button-up, and her laid-back jeans really spoke to my heart. 

Not only are these two pieces I rotate in and out of my outfits, but I’ve also concluded that celebrities can’t stay away from them: Jeans are a staple, albeit the trendiest cut may change from time to time, while button-ups are the norm for Taylor Swift, Jennifer Garner, Jennifer Lopez, and Sarah Jessica Parker. But a button-up with jeans, well that’s a certified Meghan Markle combo. In fact, she just wore the two together a little over a week ago.

Hotouch Oversized Button-Down Shirt, $25 with coupon

I could shout about my love of button-ups from the rooftops. I sit and type for nine hours a day, and the irritation levels are high when I’m in an itchy shirt that makes my arms and wrists feel constrained. That said, I often need to feel fashionable when writing about fashion. And luckily, button-ups never make me feel the first way, but they always bring out the second. 

This now-$25 one from Amazon comes in so many colors, including white, black, blue, and pink — I’m wearing the latter color as I type. It’s also oversized, which is key to being comfortable. I wear a similar one alone all the time, but I also like to layer them under sleeveless vests, as well as throw them over tank tops when it’s chilly outside. 

Gap High-Rise Cheeky Straight Jeans

A good pair of jeans is just as important as a little black dress or a clean white T-shirt because they’re a must-have basic that never fails. This pair of high-rise jeans comes in a standard blue wash like Kidman’s and has a straight-leg cut that doesn’t tightly hug the body. They’re also cropped like the ones Katie Holmes, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Meghan Markle wear, upping their breathability for summer.

Finally, Kidman added a blazer to polish off the look. My closet is already stacked full of them, but I’m trying to convince myself (and you) to get this pinstriped pick from Mango. Blazers are not the most affordable item of clothing, so the fact that this one is 64 percent off makes it a worthy investment.
