A single mum is fighting for life after being involved in single-vehicle car crash with her toddler, completely shattering one of her legs and breaking her neck.

Maddi Hambly, 27, was driving along Wooli Road in Pillar Valley, about 18km east of Grafton in northern NSW, when her blue Kia Sportage left the road on Sunday.

Police said she crashed into a driveway, rolling her car which landed on its roof in a paddock, leaving Ms Hambly with serious injuries.

She was flown to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition, where she remains in a coma.

Her 18-month old daughter was not injured in the crash but she was taken to hospital for assessment.

Family friend Tahlia Spicer told 7News that Ms Hambly would have to learn how to walk again after both her legs were broken, along with her neck and sternum.

‘Maddi is a beautiful person with a big heart,’ Ms Spicer said.

‘(She) lives for, and adores, her beautiful daughter, Lyla.

Ms Spicer added that that her friend is ‘lucky to still have’ her legs after both were broken in the crash.

Ms Hambly also suffered a severe concussion, fractured ribs and a bruised heart.

Ms Spicer said Ms Hambly was ‘a beautiful person with a big heart’ who ‘lives for, and adores, her beautiful daughter’.

‘She’s very much a daddy’s girl and she loves spending time with her family and friends,’ she said.

‘She recently got back into the workforce and was saving money for future travel.

‘We’ve all grown up together and have all had babies around the same time, so enjoy watching them now grow up with each other.’

Ms Spicer said while her daughter was happy with family, she would be missing her mum who will need to learn to walk again.

‘She will need full-time care and support to get her through this hard time in her life.’
