The queen of Carnival has arrived!
On Monday, Aug. 5, “Diamonds” singer Rihanna made her grand entrance in a custom bedazzled costume at the annual Crop Over Festival in her home country of Barbados.
The event, also known as the Grand Kadooment parade, was held in St. Michael.
While walking the streets of the Caribbean island, the 36-year-old superstar stunned in gold and bronze jewels that adorned her body. And the eye-catching ensemble didn’t stop there — the “Rude Boy” hitmaker wore a matching gold and bronze bedazzled headpiece that perfectly matched her chestnut tresses with blonde highlights.
In addition to her body being decked out in bling, Rihanna’s Carnival look wouldn’t be complete without feathers!
Starting at her shoulders and extending down to her legs were elaborately placed, colorful feathers — many extending high above her head.
Just two weeks ago, Chlöe Bailey also attended Carnival in St. Lucia, island state in the Caribbean Sea, wearing a green and gold costume.
“St Lucia carnival matched my freak,” the “Have Mercy” singer captioned a July 17 Instagram carousel, referencing Tinashe’s viral hit “Nasty.” Nicki Minaj has also been known to attend in Trinidad.
Rihanna has attended Crop Over regularly in the past, although the mom of two — who welcomed her first son, RZA, in May 2022, and her second son, Riot, 15 months later with boyfriend A$AP Rocky — seems to have last gone to the festival in 2019 before the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
In 2019, the Fenty Beauty mogul traded the body jewels for a hot pink mini dress worn under an assortment of pink feathers. She wore green eyeshadow and her hair was styled in bantu knots.
The Barbadian businesswoman was also spotted at Crop Over in 2017 — this time rocking blue hair and pink body jewels.
Rihanna also shared multiple photos on Instagram from her 2015 experience when she switched up her bright colors for dark green.
One of the photos showed the singer bonding with a young family member.
“When Ya visit Ya Aunty in the middle of the jump #CaribbeanTing #cropover2015,” she captioned a picture of herself holding a crying baby while in costume.

For 2011’s Crop Over Festival, she wore a red two-piece set with gold embellishments and a matching headpiece.
The official Barbados Tourist Board states that Grand Kadooment Day “celebrates the end of Crop Over, where Masquerade Bands make their way to the Mighty Grynner Highway with revelers dressed in sequin costumes decorated with colorful feathers, jewels and bright accents; dancing behind music trucks and moving bars.”
