One of the marquee entertainment events of the summer, San Diego Comic-Con 2024, officially begins today, July 25. The event celebrates all things entertainment-related, covering comics (of course), as well as movies, TV, gaming, and more, while cosplay is a major part of the show as well. Marvel, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Alien, DC, and more will have a presence.
There are a number of key things to know about this year’s event–including the date, venue, and schedule of the biggest panels–and we’re rounding up all the major information you need to know right here in one place.
Here’s what you need to know about San Diego Comic-Con 2024.
San Diego Comic-Con 2024 dates
San Diego Comic-Con 2024 takes place July 25-28, with a preview night preceding the main show on July 24. The event is held at the San Diego Convention Center, which is just across the street from San Diego’s lively Gaslamp quarter. The hours are as follows:
- Wednesday: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
- Thursday: 9:30 AM – 7:00 PM
- Friday: 9:30 AM – 7:00 PM
- Saturday: 9:30 AM – 7:00 PM
- Sunday: 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Tickets and passes
Tickets for San Diego Comic-Con sold out back in December 2023. However, sites like StubHub and other re-sellers have allotments of tickets available… but expect premium prices. Tickets get you into the show itself. From there, you’ll need to line up for panels and purchase any merchandise and collectibles you might be interested in.

Thursday, July 25
Deadpool & Wolverine
Deadpool & Wolverine releases during Comic-Con week, arriving in theaters on July 26, and there will be a panel for the film in Hall H on Thursday, July 25 from 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM PT. Stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman will be in attendance, alongside Marvel boss Kevin Feige and director Shawn Levy. This should be a good one.
Star Wars
Disney is saving the biggest Star Wars news for August’s D23 Expo, but Comic-Con attendees can attend a panel called Star Wars: Stories from a Galaxy Far, Far Away to hear about the video game Star Wars Outlaws and get updates on the next Star Wars books and comics. Patton Oswalt moderates this panel, which takes place July 25 from 4:15-5:15 PM PT in Ballroom 20.
Friday, July 26
Alien: Romulus
On July 26, Alien: Romulus director Fede Alvarez and the movie’s stars, including Cailee Spaeny and Isabela Merced, will appear at a Hall H panel to discuss the upcoming sci-fi movie. It runs 5:15 PM – 6:15 PM that day.
The Rings of Power Season 2
Amazon is hosting a Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power panel, also in Hall H, on July 26 from 11 AM – 12:15 PM PT. Season 2 premieres on August 29, and fans are surely hoping to get some exciting news and updates during the panel.
Saturday, July 27
The Penguin
Another high-profile Hall H panel takes place on July 27 from 4:45 PM – 5:45 PM, focused on HBO’s new series The Penguin. Colin Farrell, who plays the main character, will appear virtually for the panel to discuss the show, while Cristin Miloti, who plays Sofia Falcone, will be there in person to discuss the show.
Marvel
A panel simply titled Marvel Studios is set to take place on Saturday, July 27 from 6 PM – 7 PM PT, during which Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige and “special guests” will “provide an inside look at the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe.” This panel takes place in Hall H and is sure to be one to watch.

GameSpot and Fandom at SDCC
GameSpot parent company Fandom is hosting a big Fandom Party on Thursday, July 25 at FLOAT at the Hard Rock Hotel in San Diego. The event is sponsored in part by EA, which will show off Dragon Age: The Veilguard during the event. There will also be a musical performance by singer Jason Derulo. At Comic-Con itself, GameSpot’s Tamoor Hussain, Lucy James, and Chris Hayner, along with Fandom’s Emma Fyffe and Jan Ochoa from Giant Bomb, will host a panel discussion titled, “What Video Game Should Become the Next Hit TV show?” The debate will allow the audience to judge who among the panelists has the best idea for adapting a beloved video game for TV. Who do we think should get the Fallout or The Last of Us treatment? The only way to find out is to check out the panel. It takes place Thursday, July 25 from 6:30-7:30 PM PT in Room 24ABC at SDCC.
Additionally, Lucy will also host the panel, Dragon Age: Meet the Heroic Companions of Thedas. Along with Dragon Age creative director John Epler and creative performance director Ashley Barlow, the panel will introduce the actors bringing the characters of Dragon Age: The Veilguard to life. You can attend this panel on Friday, July 26, from 3:15 PM – 4:15 PM PT in Room 6BCF.
