Major League Baseball announced on Thursday that 2025 Spring Training will officially begin on Thursday, Feb. 20, as the Los Angeles Dodgers host the Chicago Cubs in Glendale, Ariz., to open the Cactus League season. On Friday, Feb. 21, the New York Yankees will host the Tampa Bay Rays in Tampa, Fla., to open the Grapefruit League season before a full slate of games including all 30 teams are featured on both Saturday, Feb. 22, and Sunday, Feb. 23.

Following its debut last March, Spring Breakout will return in 2025 with games from March 13-16, showcasing baseball’s future stars as clubs assemble their top prospects to play in exhibition games against one another. Spring Breakout will begin on Thursday, March 13, with a pair of matchups between top-10 farm systems as ranked by MLB Pipeline. The top-ranked Rays prospects will square off against the seventh-ranked Boston Red Sox in Port Charlotte, Florida while the top prospects of the eighth-ranked Cubs and fifth-ranked Dodgers meet in Glendale, Arizona. A third matchup of top-10 farm systems highlights the balance of the Spring Breakout schedule as the ninth-ranked Seattle Mariners visit the fourth-ranked Cleveland Guardians in Goodyear, Ariz., on Friday, March 14.

A total of 95 players have appeared in the Majors this season after their participation in March’s inaugural Spring Breakout, including 35 players who have been featured on MLB Pipeline’s Top 100 prospects list this year. In addition, 48 of the 54 players on the 2024 All-Star Futures Game rosters took part in Spring Breakout, and rosters for the upcoming Arizona Fall League are also expected to include many players who were featured during Spring Breakout.

The Atlanta Braves will travel to Mesa, Ariz., to play two games against the Cubs on Monday, March 24, and Tuesday, March 25, in a crossover matchup between Grapefruit and Cactus League clubs. In another crossover contest, the Rockies will visit the Twins on March 25 in Fort Myers, Fla. In addition, a number of exhibition games on March 23-25 will be played at Major and Minor League ballparks. The scheduled meetings thus far include the three-game Freeway Series between the Dodgers and Angels at Dodger Stadium on March 23 and at Angel Stadium on March 24-25; the Royals visiting the Rangers at Globe Life Field in Arlington; the Guardians visiting the D-backs at Chase Field in Phoenix; and the Astros hosting the Triple-A Sugar Land Skeeters at Minute Maid Park in Houston. Additional exhibition games at Major and Minor League ballparks are expected to be added in the coming months.

The 2025 regular season will begin with the Tokyo Series presented by Guggenheim, a two-game series between the Dodgers and the Cubs at the Tokyo Dome on Tuesday, March 18, and Wednesday, March 19. Traditional Opening Day, featuring all 30 Major League Clubs, will take place on Thursday, March 27. Please see the accompanying files or visit MLB.com for the complete 2025 Spring Training schedule. Individual Club schedules can be found at each of the respective 30 Club sites.
