Good Morning Britain is the most complained about show of 2024 so far – receiving 2,413 Ofcom complaints and counting.

The ITV show is on from 6am-9am, with current presenters including Susanna Reid, Kate Garraway, Richard Madeley, Ed Balls and Robert Rinder.

GMB picked up the majority of its complaints on May 30 this year, when it brought a banned XL Bully dog onto the show, provoking a heated debate – the episode racked up 1,634 complaints alone with phone lines to Ofcom ringing off the hook.

In second spot was This Morning, with 1,264 complaints, picking up 637 of those on May 28 after guest Nick Ferrari’s on-air comments regarding peanut allergies on planes. 

When asked about his dream airline Ferrari claimed that ‘If you don’t like peanuts, don’t get on the plane either because I do and I can’t eat them because someone at the back of the plane is going to drop dead or something if I have a peanut.’ 

Host Dermot O’Leary apologised after Ferrari’s comments but viewers still lodged complaints with Ofcom regarding the episode. 

ITV shows take up the top four spots with the list of the top 10 as follows;

1 – Good Morning Britain – 2,413

2 – This Morning – 1,264

3 – Emmerdale – 1,189

4 – Love Island – 651

5 – Hollyoaks- 358

6 – Loose Women – 263

7 – Britain’s Got Talent – 224

8 – Celebrity Big Brother – 210

9 – Celebrity Gogglebox – 105

10 – Dancing on Ice – 86

A spokesman for casino site Nodeposit365 said it analysed Ofcom data from the start of the year until July 15.

The Emmerdale storyline involving Tom King attacking toy cockapoo Piper was most complained about, with 826 complaints out of the total of 1,189.

Love Island received most complaints – 210 – for an episode in June where Jess and Harriet squabbled – the show has racked up 651 complaints since series 11 began airing on June 7

Hollyoaks received all 358 complaints about a series of episodes in March about a transgender child.

Transgender character Rose Lomax sparked fury among viewers

Viewers contacted Ofcom regarding Ava Webster's trasngender character on Hollyoaks

A series of episodes featuring transgender character Rose Lomax led to 358 Ofcom complaints

The spokesman said: ‘Good Morning Britain has received the most Ofcom complaints in 2024 so far, with a total of 2,413 reports.

He added: ‘Shows that generate a high volume of complaints are often ones that provoke a strong gut reaction from its viewers.

‘A significant number of these complaints, particularly concerning talk shows, often stem from individuals making controversial or provocative statements.’
