Vampire Survivors has locked in an August 29 release date for PS5 and PS4 consoles. Developer Poncle made the announcement with a short trailer, showing off all of the action and 500,000 texture-mapped garlic balls, and emphasizing “at least” 13.5 hours of gameplay.

A Vampire Survivors PlayStation port was first revealed during the Triple-I Initiative showcase in April alongside Contra DLC. One of GameSpot’s best games of 2022, Vampire Survivors has steadily grown since its full launch and even crossed over with Among Us, adding new themed weapons and characters in December 2023.

“It’s cheap. It’s ugly. And it’s easily one of the best games of 2022. Vampire Survivors is the clearest example of how compelling a simple concept and fantastic game feel can be,” Tamoor Hussain wrote about the game, which is also being developed into a TV animated series.

When Poncle wasn’t adding other post-launch content like a co-op mode and a Christmas update, it managed to find time to produce a shot-for-shot remake of the classic Final Fantasy 7 original PlayStation trailer using Vampire Survivors assets.

If you don’t have a PS5 or a PS4, Vampire Survivors is also currently available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and mobile platforms. If you’d like to get some insight into how the game came to be, the NoClip Vampire Survivors documentary is insightful and it has a puppet show.
