Caitlin Clark has already left her mark on basketball. Is baseball her next sport of choice?

It appeared that way for a moment Saturday, when the star rookie for the WNBA’s Indiana Fever was in attendance at Yankee Stadium before Game 1 of a doubleheader between the Yankees and Rangers.

Donning a Yankees jersey and cap in her first visit to the ballpark, Clark posed for pictures with players from both teams, including Rangers third baseman Josh Jung and Yankees star outfielder Aaron Judge.

In a visit to the Yankees’ broadcast booth in the top of the third inning, Clark told Michael Kay and Paul O’Neill that Judge was the player she was most excited to meet.

“He’s way bigger than even people think,” Clark said. “You know he’s big, but then when you get next to him, it’s like, ‘Oh my gosh, you could probably play football, just about any sport you want to.’ He’d probably be pretty good at basketball, too. But yeah, he’s a good guy, down-to-earth. … He’s like double my height.

“He’s huge. He’s pretty swole, too. Not just tall, he’s pretty swole.”

Told by Kay that his daughter did a school project on Clark, she called it “really cool” that girls look up to her.

“You hear about it often times, and it’s not ever something that gets old to me,” Clark said. “That’s never something I take for granted because I remember doing those projects in grade school; I would do it on Mia Hamm, one of the best soccer players of all time. I remember dressing up as her in second grade. So it’s cool to kind of be in that position now.”

Clark was also scheduled to appear on the Yankees’ WFAN radio broadcast for an interview with commentator Suzyn Waldman during the first game of the twin bill.

Clark is in her first professional season after completing a historic collegiate career at Iowa, breaking the Division I career scoring record for men’s and women’s players and leading the Hawkeyes to a national championship game appearance during both her junior and senior seasons. She was selected with the first overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft.
