An Oregon mom has been left fighting for her life after she was attacked by a pack of dogs, with her facial injuries being too horrific to show.

Mytoka Petry was mauled by eight dogs on the morning of July 15 in North Portland, with police officers responding to a medical call at a homeless encampment.

Petry lost an arm and her ear in the vicious attack and was rushed to hospital, while two other people who attempted to intervene were also injured.

The eight animals have since been taken into custody and are currently being held pending a formal investigation.

Since the incident, friends and family have organized a GoFundMe page to help her family as she remains in intensive care. They covered up her badly-injured face with a heart emoji.

According to the GoFundMe, doctors also now fear she may lose her eye and has undergone five surgeries within seven days.

Close friend Julana Torres told KGW: ‘Nobody should have to be subjected to that or be at the point of almost losing their life because they are out for a walk.’

Torres described to the outlet how she was left in ‘utter shock’ after she first heard the news of the attack.

She added: ‘I couldn’t like even say anything I just, speechless because it just didn’t even seem real.

‘This is a member of our community, Portland native, a mother of two girls, who has served her community.

‘She was a nurse. She’s a caretaker. She’s a loving person. And what has happened to her is just absolutely horrendous.’

While friend Kristine Rebber told KOIN: ‘Somebody has to be accountable. This is tragic. There’s no reason that she should not have been able to be out there.’

Rebber said that while Petry is in a stable condition, those closest to her have been told they have a really long road ahead of them.

She added: ‘She may be in the ICU for months. And right now there’s so much room for infection or other complications that she’s not out of the woods.’

Police in the city have said that no arrests have yet been made in the case.

Portland has become a byword for crime and urban decay in recent years.

The progressive Oregon city is plagued by homeless encampments and associated crime including drug abuse and murder.

Portland saw its annual murder numbers hit and all-time high in 2022.

Progressive Democrat DA Mike Schmidt was elected in summer 2020.

But he was given the boot earlier this year as voters turned on him for ‘equity’-focused policies they say were too soft on crime.

He was booted from office by assistant prosecutor Nathan Vasquez, who has vowed to clean up the city and take a tougher stance on crimes that affect locals’ quality of life.
